Cadmium-free silver based alloys are typically used in Health & Safety applications, suitable for a wide variety of base materials, such as iron, steel, copper and brass.
The joints made of Cadmium-free silver alloys have excellent mechanical qualities and a high-pressure resistance. On Mister Worker® you can buy these brazing alloys in many shapes and variations: from rods (bare and coated) to wires, from tapes to rings. These alloys, as the name suggests, do not contain Cadmium: therefore, they are compliant with the RoHS regulation (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive-RoHS, regulation 2002/95/CE) and are not subject to limitations. Depending on whether they are tin-free alloys or alloys with tin, they have different melting temperatures, lower in the latter case. Also remember that they should be accompanied by the most appropriate flux. For other applications, e.g. stainless-steel joints in wet conditions, the use of specific silver-based alloys for special applications is recommended, such as those without Zinc or with small percentages of Nickel.
